India's outsourcing market becomes lucrative

 

In the first half of 2007, India outpaced Australia and Japan as the largest market for outsourcing contracts in the Asia Pacific region by awarding a total of $1.68 billion worth of contracts. This accounted for 30% of the total contracts awarded in the region.

 
   
 
 

Govt to pay fertiliser subsidy

 

NEW DELHI: At a special meeting to discuss fertiliser subsidy on Wednesday, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh overruled finance ministry's objections and agreed to give the first tranche of Rs 17,223 crore as subsidy to the chemical and fertilisers ministry.

Shri Pranab Mukherjee, Minister for External Affairs, led the Indian delegation to the 14th ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) meeting in Manila today. The ARF brings together the ten ASEAN countries, their ten Dialogue Partners such as India, China, the United States, EU and Russia, as well as seven other countries including the latest entrant Sri Lanka.
